Changes to Technical Document for Sport Specific Analysis (TDSSA) 2018-02-05

CHANGES TO WADA’S TECHNICAL DOCUMENT FOR SPORT SPECIFIC ANALYSIS (TDSSA)

Dear Colleagues,

At its meeting on 15 November 2017, WADA’s Executive Committee approved a small number of amendments to the Technical Document for Sport Specific Analysis (TDSSA) which will come into effect on 1 January 2018.

The key amendment is a delay in mandating both the implementation of the haematological module of the Athlete Biological Passport (ABP) for certain sports and disciplines that have a minimum level of analysis (MLA) of 30% or greater for Erythropoiesis Stimulating Agents (ESAs) as listed in the TDSSA until 1 January 2019. This delay also applies to the implementation of blood collection for Growth Hormone (GH) analysis as per the MLA levels listed in the TDSSA.

WADA encourages those Anti-Doping Organizations that currently do not collect blood for either the ABP program or for GH to evaluate the necessary requirements to put such programs in place for 2019 and to contact WADA if they require any assistance.

In addition, you may refer to WADA’s communication to ADOs on 26 October 2017, which included the Summary of Outcomes following the meeting of the Technical Document for Sport Specific Analysis Expert Group in August 2017. This also includes a summary table outlining which TDSSA analysis methods are available at each WADA-accredited Laboratory.
