Dear Colleagues,
The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) is pleased to inform you that the second edition of its Athlete Biological Passport (ABP) Symposium will be held over two and a half days from Wednesday, 5 November to Friday, 7 November 2018 in Rome, Italy. The event is being organized with the support of the Italian Federation of Sports Medicine (FMSI).
This symposium is designed to bring together anti-doping stakeholders who are involved in all areas of ABP programs, including testing, administration, expert reviews, and results management, in order to promote harmonization of practice and exchange of knowledge and lessons learned from ABP cases. Athlete Passport Management Units (APMUs), experts who review passports, International Federations, National and Regional Anti-Doping Organizations, and WADA-accredited laboratories are invited to take part.
Key topics will include:
- Strategic testing and collaboration between Anti-Doping Organizations
- New requirements and procedures for APMUs
- Managing sample validity and best practices for APMU reports
- How to use the ABP to drive investigations
- Advances in understanding confounding factors
- Lessons from recent legal cases
Further details, including a draft agenda and logistical information, will be provided when registration opens in a few weeks.
Although this symposium is intended to be relevant for all members of the anti-doping community who are involved with ABP programs at the administrative, technical, or legal levels, please feel free to inquire whether this meeting is suitable for you by contacting Ms. Lita Di Ioia at ABPSymposium@wada-ama.org.
We look forward to welcoming you in Rome to hold fruitful discussions that will further enhance the efficacy of ABP programs worldwide.
Best regards,
