MEDIA RELEASE

WADA PUBLISHES NEW GUIDELINES
FOR EDUCATION

Montreal, 14 September 2020 – The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) is pleased to announce the publication of new Guidelines for Education to support Anti-Doping Organizations (ADOs) in their implementation of the new International Standard for Education (ISE), which comes into force on 1 January 2021.

The new Guidelines for Education were developed with the support and input of stakeholders in the Clean Sport community and aim to provide guidance on key requirements of the ISE; such as, creating an Education Pool; developing an Education Plan; designing learning activities and the monitoring and evaluation of education programs. While the Guidelines are initially being published in English, the official French version will be released in the coming weeks, as will an eBook version as a pilot of a new format.

WADA Director of Education Amanda Hudson said: “WADA is delighted to publish these new Guidelines for Education, which will help the anti-doping community in their implementation of the new International Standard for Education. We wish to express our sincere thanks to the participating International Federations, National Anti-Doping Organizations, the Council of Europe’s Advisory Group for Education, as well as WADA’s Social Science Review Panel and the Agency’s Education Committee for their input into the development of the Guidelines. They will serve as a key reference point for all Anti-Doping Organizations, ensuring comprehensive and robust anti-doping education programs are implemented worldwide.”

The new Guidelines for Education can be found on WADA’s website and on its Anti-Doping eLearning Platform (ADeL), as part of the Code Implementation Support Program (CISP), which provides additional resources to support the implementation of the ISE; as well as, the 2021 World Anti-Doping Code (Code) and other International Standards that enter into force on 1 January 2021.

WADA Guidelines provide Code Signatories with recommended practices for several aspects of anti-doping programs. While these guidelines are not mandatory, they offer technical guidance to ADOs in the implementation of their anti-doping programs. As with all guidelines under the World Anti-Doping Program, these documents are subject to ongoing review.
